Sample email enquiry template

The wording below is a standardised email (courtesy of Paul Conway, Sheffield Hallam University) for initiating communication with a publisher. It is possible other information may be required (see 'Questions to ask') but the email below usually gets results).
Please use the email link on the Publisher Lookup UK site if the publisher is listed there since this takes you to the publisher's preferred department and reinforces the importance of the site as a facility for all stakeholders.
"Hi,

I am contacting you using the details supplied on www.publisherlookup.org.uk
(OR I was unable to find your details on www.publisherlookup.org.uk and would recommend you visit the website and add your information.)

Please would it be possible for you to send me a pdf version (on disk) of the following [publisher] title:

Author (Year)
Title (edition)
ISBN no.

This file is for [name of student], who is [blind/visually impaired].
[Name of student] is in her/his [] year of study on a [name of course] course.

Being able to access a pdf version of this textbook would greatly assist [name of student] in her/his course.

Many thanks indeed
